What's your Inspiration?
Inspiration
In my last post, "How NOT to design your design project" I discussed how paint, lighting, tile and color selection has an order… you don't buy cabinets or furniture to "match" a wall color.

Which begs the question, "What about inspiration?"  We have all heard that term, what is inspiration?  You can be inspired, by a landscape, a sunset. Pinterest is filled with inspiration!
It’s is good to be inspired to redo a space, paint a wall, build a shelf…. but keep in mind your project will not look exactly the same as your inspiration.

Sometimes my clients have it in their head they need or must re-create a space exactly. Those are some very wary people.

It’s impossible to duplicate a look.  Your budget will not allow a total, exact re-creation of a photo you are working from.

The image may have been "glammed up" We all know the models in fashion magazines are photo-shopped. THEY don't look like the image they are promoting.  Same is true with a room or furniture.  Notice, the photographer will have a sink vanity beautifully lighted, if you really look you can see the light source.
Look at the way a grouping of furniture is displayed by a stylist. It looks great in print but really isn't practical for a family to move around in.

The design in magazines, videos, advertisements are to get your attention, make you want it, that’s what it is designed to do.

YES! That is your inspiration… but you need to be open to other choices, colors, fabrics, lighting and decor.

TAKE it and MAKE it your own!

Because you should Love where you Live!
